Photography

  1. Both pictures showcase clipboard with forms that students need to fill out in order to get permission to work on campus.

The first picture was taken and looked rather disproportional and could fit only in a a portrait picture format. One of the elements of good photography in Nancy Hill's articles talked about refers to the composition. The first picture doesn't do justice to a well-composed photography as the space and direction of the picture are not well utilized.

However, in the second picture, we can tell that the picture has several components and attributes of a compelling picture. In Darren Rouse's article, we read about the pattern, texture (of the metal in this case), the depth of field, and lines which are elements of a good photography. The second picture reflects all these elements driving us to a focal point.

Despite the fact that this picture doesn't necessarily tell a story, the observer can definitely tell that the office where these clipboards belong to is ready to serve its students. There this sense of readiness and accountability that one can see in the picture. More over, the words "anti-discrimination" can be read on the form which reflects another value of the office which is the fairness and equality in which every student is treated.
